Our clinicians may think it's appropriate to refer you to another service, for example the hospital.

Current NHS guidelines state that "patients should be seen and treated within an 18 week period from the date of referral."

Unfortunately we cannot control the appointments system at the hospital and due to high patient demand some specialities are exceeding this wait time. Please bear this in mind when chasing the referral.

If you are given a TWO WEEK WAIT referral then you should contact the surgery within one week if you have not received an appointment.
