Barbourne Health Centre is still open although we currently have a locked door policy.
Patients will only be able to enter the surgery to attend a pre booked appointment agreed by a GP. Your temperature will be checked before you come in.
Any queries will be dealt with via telephone and all prescriptions will be sent electronically to your nominated pharmacist.
We thank you for your understanding during these unusual times. Please be aware that we will endeavor to keep patients updated with any changes.
IMPORTANT CORONAVIRUS (COVID-19) ADVICE
Important information about the coronavirus (COVID-19)
The NHS across Worcestershire and Herefordshire will be better prepared for outbreaks of new infectious diseases, if the public follows Public Health England advice.
The NHS has put in place measures to ensure the safety of patients and staff which may mean your patient experience is subject to change.
The Chief Medical Officer announced on Friday 13 March that the country is moving into the ‘Delay’ stage of the response to coronavirus (Covid-19).
The new advice issued by the Chief Medical Officer is to stay at home for 7 days if you have either:
• a high temperature or
• a new continuous cough
Do not go to a GP surgery, pharmacy or a hospital. You do not need to contact 111 to tell them you're staying at home.
Use the NHS 111 online coronavirus service if:
• you feel you cannot cope with your symptoms at home
• your condition gets worse
• your symptoms do not get better after 7 days
Only call 111 if you cannot get help online.
Stay At Home advice can be found here.
Everyone is being reminded to follow Public Health England advice to:
• Always carry tissues with you and use them to catch your cough or sneeze. Then bin the tissue, and wash your hands, or use a sanitiser gel.
• Wash your hands often with soap and water, especially after using public transport. Use a sanitiser gel if soap and water are not available.
• Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth with unwashed hands.
• Avoid close contact with people who are unwell.
Information remains subject to regular change and updates. More information can be found on the NHS website here.
The practice has disabled all online booking facilities and will be screening all appointments before they are being booked at the surgery.
Age UK Worcester
Staff from Age UK Worcester will be available here in the surgery waiting room on the 2nd Wednesday of every month from 9.30am to provide expert advice about the services they offer. They will be on hand to answer any questions you may have about these services and will be happy to discuss any issues you may have. Please feel free to pop into the surgery to meet them :-)
Health Monitoring Room
The trial was successful! We now have our own blood pressure machine! The new health monitoring room is where you can check your own blood pressure, height and weight and submit this information to the surgery without an appointment.
Please see reception for further details.
We are now open: Monday and Tuesday only 7am-6.30pm; Wednesday to Friday 8am-6.30pm. We will be closed on Saturday and Sunday.
Medical Students qualify as doctors after 5 years, but they then need a further 3 years training to qualify as general practitioners.
Barbourne Health Centre started to train junior doctors in 2015.
Dr Benney is a qualified "trainer" who has been involved in training young doctors who have a interest in becoming GPs.
You may during your visit to Barbourne experience a consultation in a joint surgery, where the trainee GP observes the trainer in consultation, or the trainer watches the trainee consulting.
These joint consultations are a very valuable learning tool for trainees, and we are grateful to all of our patients for supporting us all with this.
We are currently looking for new members for our PPG – all ages are welcome.
If you are interested in joining, please contact the Medical Secretary at the surgery on 01905 22888 for further information.
If you have signed up with a pharmacy for this service your prescription will be electronically sent there. If you haven't signed up with a pharmacy and would like to be included in this service, please contact the pharmacy of your choice to arrange this.
Appointments Online, Repeat Prescriptions & Text Reminders
If you want to sign up for Appointments Online Repeat Prescriptions or Appointment Text Reminders - you will need to bring in some ID to obtain a registration document from Reception. If you have previously signed up for Appointments since 3rd Sept, you can now also order Prescriptions.
Summary Care Records
In an emergency, or if your doctors surgery is closed, you might need care from a doctor or nurse who doesn't know you.
We introduced Summary Care Records on the 18th November 2014 to improve the safety and quality of patient care. For further information please read more under "Summary Care Records" at the bottom of the screen.
